Professional Goals and Involvements
I had the amazing opportunity to be a part of the National Association for Music Educators Collegiate chapter at Penn State. During my four years of membership, I served one year as treasurer-elect, and one year as treasurer. I observed and adopted organizational strategies essential for organized money collection and travel planning for the annual PMEA conferences that I will without a doubt carry with me into a future teaching profession. My past four years of involvement in these organizations have exposed me to such diverse musical experiences that have broadened my musicianship and my perspective of the purpose of music education all together. As an educator, my goal is to make time to expose my future students to music around the world beyond the typical prioritization of exclusively studying western classical music. I hope to introduce students to music they wouldn't listen to unprompted as well as facilitate deeper learning about popular modern artists they already know and love. I hope this broad exposure will encourage students to stay curious and continue pursuing and sharing their love for music outside of my classroom in the way that resonates with them most.
